Neelofa and Haris Ismail

Actress-turned-modest fashion boss Noor Neelofa Mohd Noor married preacher-actor Haris Ismail at the Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur in March. The celebration, dubbed the “wedding of the year” by various Malaysian media outlets, featured four tonnes of fresh ivory blooms and door gifts of Lancôme skincare.

Neelofa wowed 200 guests with a dress adorned with 5,000 Swarovski crystals designed by Malaysian fashion designer Alia Bastamam. According to Malay Mail, the French lace ensemble was inspired by Greek goddesses.

Zahirah MacWilson and Aiman Hakim Ridza

What does an upside-down wedding cake look like? Just ask actress Zahirah MacWilson and her beau, fellow actor Aiman Hakim Ridza, whose special day’s centrepiece consisted of an eight-tier crystal-decorated, vanilla-flavoured upside-down wedding cake that cost an estimated US$2,400.

The pair got married in February 2020 in front of nearly 200 people, who witnessed the happy couple cutting into the extravagant gravity-defying cake, which took about an hour to hang up, according to New Straits Times.

Fazura and Fattah Amin

Sometimes inviting your nearest and dearest to your wedding isn’t enough: in March 2018, singer-actors Nur Fazura binti Sharifuddin and Abdul Fattah bin Mohd Amin, better known as Fazura and Fattah Amin, threw an epic reception at the Royale Palace Shah Alam. Around 5,000 enthusiastic “Fattzura” buffs were invited to the bash via Instagram. Of course, the couple had a separate reception – fairy tale-themed, complete with castle-like decor – for their friends and family, but they wanted to share their special moment with their fans too, reported New Straits Times.

Chryseis Tan and Faliq Nasimuddin

The heirs to conglomerates Berjaya Group and Naza Group, Chryseis Tan and Faliq Nasimuddin tied the knot in November 2018 at the Four Seasons Kyoto, where the bride wore a white tulle dress by Oscar de la Renta. The pair also hired K-pop group D.I.P to play wedding jams.

In a separate reception held at MITEC in Kuala Lumpur for 1,300 people, English boy band Blue and Shane Filan from Irish boy band Westlife entertained the audience with some of their biggest noughties throwback hits as the couple shared their first dance.
